Adult centipedes here in Georgia are reddish brown to orange. The body is flattened with 15 to 177 body segments that may have one pair of legs each. Adults typically overwinter outdoors, laying 35 eggs or more during the summer. Their life span ranges from one to six years.
Centipedes prefer to live in moist environments such as your crawl space and basement, bathrooms and closets.
